Study SEMH at Masters Level - ONLINE

SEBDA, in partnership with Oxford Brookes University offers a 2 year part-time Postgraduate Diploma: Social Emotional Mental Health Difficulties. (120 credits)

This is a distance learning course and is delivered online.

At the end of the first year students may choose to exit the programme with the award of Postgraduate Certificate: Social Emotional Mental Health Difficulties (60 credits)

On this course, you will enhance your understanding, skills and expertise in relation to children and young people with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH).

You will have opportunities to conduct constructive and critical reflection on a range of practical, theoretical and research issues. You will relate SEMH theory to your own professional context and consider the impact on your practice.

You will learn from experienced practitioners in the field of SEMH and will  receive expert tuition and support to build your skills and succeed on the course. You will also network online with fellow students working in a wide range of settings. You will study 3 modules each year.

The course is structured to help you study while you are working. Previous students have included:

  • Teachers and SENCOs from special schools, PRUs, LSUs and mainstream settings
  • Teaching Assistants
  • Speech and Language Therapists
  • Learning Mentors
  • Social Workers
  • Educational Psychologists
  • Other professionals working with young people.

Here are some of their comments:

A beautifully designed course that was flexible enough to cater for a range of professionals. (HR. Year 1 student)

I would just like to say a very big thank you for running such an excellent, well managed and highly relevant course.   (GZ, Year 1 student)

Last week I secured a post in a special provision for students with SEMH ... thanks to the work I have completed on this course and during Year 1, the feedback I have had and the ideas everyone has shared, I was confident in interview.       (VW, Year 2 student)

The timetable and structured activities each fortnight enabled me to manage the workload, on top of working full time.      (Anonymous student feedback)
